Song: Actions Speak Louder Than Words

 Date:  January 25th, 2012

This song is what “converted” me into a “believer” that Christian Hip Hop can be powerful, packed with content and yet not sound forced or corny. I absolutely LOVE the artist SWOOPE. I am big fan of his albums “The Zoo” and ” A.I.R.”. Please check this song out. The opening lyrics from Swoope hit me the hardest.

“If I’m honest, I’m tired, hungry, I’m frustrated, all of the above
A little sore from civil war, when all I seen was blood
I shed tears, heartbroken, all I need is Love
I’m drowning fast in my sorrow, all of me is flood
I’ve seen hurt, seen death, seen slaughter
Now I need some clean water
All I see is mud”

I cant explain how many times on a day to day basis I feel this way…

This is on my list of Top 10 hip hop songs ever… Yes that includes all “normal” rappers.

How Much Does God Love You?
Only God can answer this question. Fortunately, we have abook available where we can find out what God thinks: theBible.
(What a wonderful thought that is! We can read and know whatGOD thinks! Don’t let yourself be robbed of this greatprivilege by being too busy.)
PSALM 103:13 NIV13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD hascompassion on those who fear him;
One way we can begin to get an inkling of God’s love for us isto know what it is like to have our own children. Psalm 103:13tells us that the same deep feelings a parent has for theirchild, are also present in God toward us. The word in thisverse means much more than “compassion.” It is a very deepfeeling — hard to express in words. This is what God feels foryou!
(You may wonder why. I may wonder why God would feel that wayabout you or me. All I can say is: parents can think their ownchildren are really special, even though others may think theyare quite normal!)
Another way we can judge how much God loves us is by what Hewas willing to go through to redeem us and have us in Hisfamily. A lot!
We are familiar with John 3:16, but often being familiar withsomething keeps us from grasping it as fully and clearly as weshould. Think about it: God so loved the dirty, rotten, rebellious world of people — even those who hated Him — thatHe decided to suffer the punishment that justice demanded sothey could go free.
God loves you — no matter who you are — no matter what youhave done. He loves you more than you can imagine orunderstand.
God loves you more than He loves Himself. That is proven by thefact that He put your interest and your feelings ahead of Hisown, choosing to suffer so you could go free.
How can anyone not love and worship such a Being as ourwonderful God?
SAY THIS: God loves me. God loves me. God loves me.

Artist: Eshon Burgundy

Song:  Street Runner

Date:   January 23rd, 2012

As many of you will come to find I love Music of all kinds (Hip Hop being my current favorite), Movies, Books, My Wife and Daughter and God. The track above combines Hip Hop with God and creates an amazing Christian Hip Hop Song titled “Street Runner” by Eshon Burgundy. Some of you out there may have the stereotype that I used to have. I believed you could do Christian Hip Hop without being “corny”… enter Eshon Burgundy. If you dont pay attention to the lyrics you would think this was a regular hip hop track. Thats what I love about it!!! I get the feel of Regular Hip Hop and if I pay attention to the lyrics I get FED!!!!  Lines like “Jesus is the ANSWER/Devil is a Dancer/moving provocative with a shovel and some handcuffs” speak so deeply to the my hip hop roots and my Christian beliefs. Match that with the beautiful Nancy Wilson sample and you have the beginning of something special.I am still finding artist that I really enjoy in Christian Hip Hop but be sure Eshon Burgundy will be getting spins on my ipod…LOL

A.B.S.O.G. Rashad’s Movie Reviews

Movie: COURAGEOUS

Date:    January 23rd, 2012

Calling Out All MEN OF GOD!!!

Have you ever seen a movie that made you doubt things you onced believed or literally changed your life the moment it was over. Courageous is all that and a bag of Blazin Buffalo Doritoes. This is the first review on my blog so please be patient with me as I develop a format. For now I will do “Why I Liked It” and “Why I Disliked It” and then come up with some corny way of rating all movies…lol.. so lets begin!!!

Why I Disliked It- As with many “Christian” movies the budget doesnt allow for Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks to be involved. There are times in the movie where there is a true “B” rate feeling to the film. Its not that the actors are not believable, rather some of the dialogue seems forced to get the message across.

Why I Liked It- This movie changed me as a MAN!!! It connects on so many levels with what Fathers, Husbands and Single Men go through on a day to day basis. Then it gave solutions and answers according to Scripture. For those of you who may be like myself and say “I am a great father and a good husband”… I DARE YOU to have that same thinking after watching this movie. Being a “great father” is not good enough.

Since this is a Christian Inspired Blog my rating system will be based on the amount of Bibles it receives. (5 Bibles is Excellent/Must See 1 Bible is Bad/Do Not Watch)

Courageous - 4/5 Bibles
